The style Brogues doesn't mean a type of shoes but it is a type of embellishing for the shoes.

We can set apart two types of brogues:

The quarter and semi-brogues (half-brogues) have the fewest embellishments, and the perforations are only at the front of the shoe, there is also a cap toe - characteristic sewn across and behind the toes.

Full-brogues (in USA also called wing tip) have more perforations, there are characteristic perforations at the top of the shoe in a rosette shape and sewn with little holes in a wing shape on the upper part.

How to wear brogues? For what occasions (events) and with what sort of outfit can be worn brogue shoes?
Shoes with embellishments always looks more sporty than smoother shoes. There is one rule, less embellishing means more formal shoes and goes better with ceremonial occasions (for example weddings, funerals or formal work attire.
